This is a handmade porcelain doll with the traditional dress of the Musoe or Laha hilltribe of Thailand. It was made by Youthana Boonprakong and was purchased from a craft store dealing in the finest of Thai handicrafts, under the patronage of the queen.

From the description included with the doll:

Most of the Musoe in Thailand live in the provinces of Chiangmai and Chiangrai. They call themselves Lahu. There are two major groups of Musoe: Lahu-Na or Lahu-Dum, and Lahu-Chi or Lahu-Luang. These two groups maybe subdivided into five smalller groups: Lahu-Ti, Lahu-Ma, Lahu-Seleh, Lahu-Balan and Lahu-Badeo. The Lahu are generally settled on high mountains. . . Praying is an important part of life for all Lahu people, wishing a peacefula and happy life and eternal fertility.

The doll measures a little over 9" tall.
