This is a terra cotta piece from northern Thailand from an area outside of Chiang Mai called Ban Tawai. It
has a hole in the bottom to allow water to flow out so it can be kept outside in a garden, though I bring my sculptures in during the winter. The style
is made to be viewed from above, presenting a very happy expression to the viewer that would not be as effective if viewed from the side. It's a great
addition to a garden or a porch area, and can hold a candle or incense to keep away the mosquitoes. Each piece is created by hand and is unique. Only
one is offered for sale.
