The primary wood for this bed is Honduras mahogany. The legs are 3" square and curve in at the bottom. Rails are 2" mahogany,
and are joined with large mortise and tenon joints. The end rails are glued, and the side rails are pulled tight with bolts, making for a rigid structure. Bolts are
covered with a swinging door made of Brazilian rosewood I had left over from a previous project. Oak slats, 2"
x 3" support a 1/2" plywood platform, giving even support to one of the new foam mattresses. This particular piece is queen size, but it can be altered to fit any size
mattress. Finished with oil and wax, this will patinate beautifully over the years.
