This large humidor was made for a real cigar aficionado. It is about five feet tall, and three feet wide, 18" deep as I recall. The shelves, made of Spanish cedar, tilt for display, or lay flat in case he gets enough cigars that he needs more storage space. It was wired with an electrical outlet for the electric humidity unit and the lighting so that only one chord would exit the back. The carcase was joined with through dovetails, that show on the top, and the doors are hinged with precision knife hinges from Larry & Faye Brusso (the best in the business in my opinion).
I no longer make cabinet style humidors due to the problems associated with high humidity inside and low humidity outside. The engineering to keep the doors working properly while maintaining a tight seal is problematic, and I won't sell something that I'm not confident in for the long term. After weeks of work and many trips to the client's home to make minor adjustments, I was able to get things working well, but I think it would have worked out better made from veneered medium density fiberboard (MDF) with sliding glass doors. I don't work with MDF as it is not designed for hand work. In addition, veneering takes specialized tools and skills I'm not interested in investing in. The design as shown could make a nice museum case.
